So, I just recently finished reading “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, and for some reason, by the end of it I was almost in tears. I read this one line, which was one of my favorites:
“‘You don’t even have to understand the desert; all you have to do is contemplate a single grain of sand, and you will see in it all the marvels of creation”
(127).

The whole story is essentially about man’s battle between mind and heart in following our dreams. But what I really enjoyed about this quote, and the book in general is that the author was advising us that in pursuing our endeavors, it is the journey and experiences along the way that are actually the treasure we are searching for. It tells us that our relationship with God in the greater scheme of the world is what allows each of us to fulfill our individual purpose. After all, if lead cannot become gold what is the meaning in life?
Sorry, I just had to get out my thoughts on that. There are so many significant symbols and metaphors in this book that if I tried to write everything out it would probably take up more than a page. I just want to say that I DEFINITELY recommend this novel, and please, let me know your thoughts on this quote (or the book if you’ve read it) in the comments below.
The co-incidence of me experiencing the same today
