To claw our way out of the rubble
We replace the towers that have collapsed
With the impenetrable pillars of our past
Equality, and freedom are our own inventions
Hiding human misconceptions
We march for a world of democracy ahead
But it is based on falsehood instead
If human nature is to devour
Use violence and brutality to attain power
Then surely God never intended we succeed
In forming a perfect society
This task drowns out the ceaseless quest
The pursuit of eternal happiness
But surrendering to internal savagery
Means we fail the test of humanity
The meaning of life is then to battle
The beasts our emotions will always unravel
To surmount the inner will and fight
So that we may remain civilized
