Rape of the Earth

The Earth let out an orgasm,
shuddering into a moonless sky
while the stars encircled her,
like vultures scouting prey.

The wolves writhed by dawnlight,
set aflame by the sun,
stumbling over starving whelps,
and howling at the Day.

Land eroded water,
and the oceans drifted stangnant,
without the moon's eternal pull,
its maternal womb being infertile.

Weeds thrust from the soil,
seeds scattered like dust,
the silt of Earth's belly rendered dry,
And made sterile.

The beast of an earthquake,
emitted a heinous roar,
and mountains parted jaws,
opening into a canyon.

Magma brewed within the monster,
and lava gushed forth,
till the Earth's blood,
flooded all the land.
