Song of 3 Crows Excerpt-

This is an excerpt from a longer story I wrote as part of my senior capstone. I used a hybrid medium of prose, free-verse poetry, and art. I’ve attached 2 poems below:

Monsoon.
Shiva is dancing.
His feet strike the gates of heaven
And the earth shudders.

Fear sizzles through my veins
when i hear Her cry;
in a voice so akin to my own.

Then Lord Indra showers the world
With an avalanche of lightning

Life jolts through me
and the air escapes my grasp
I gasp.

In the darkness
Devi rustles.
She takes my hands between her fingers
and presses them to her heart
“Come dear child,” she whispers in my ear.

“You are stronger than this...”
The fear dissipates
i look up
Durga stands before me
her eyes on fire

while I
cower
on
the
floor.

The house is shaking
The wind whistles
Then Durga speaks
Her tiger roars.
~

What Durga tells me…

“You are my daughter”
She says
Handing me the spear
“You are love”
Never fear.
“You are strength”
Not brawn but kindness
“You must lose yourself first
To then find it”
“You will heal”
From within
“Find the courage to begin”
“The cycle of creation”
Starts with you
“Breathe”
Deeply
“Become”
Anew.
