A Gilded Fantasy-

When my eyes are half-closed,
The fairies tiptoe on their
Pointed shoes and delicate wings
They tap me twice with their enchanted wands
And drag me downwards into a world of reality

I drown
My mouth gasping for air as they
Dunk me repeatedly in
The frozen water
My body condensing with every motion,
As I solidify into a glacier
Praying for some semblance
Of forgiveness

Years later,
I lay on an ice-cold bed of carnations
Wishing for the angel Azrael to drag me away
To that distant memory
Of a gilded fantasy
