I’ve touched God before
Held him in my hands
A small specimen throbbing with light
While suffocated by a blanket of dusk
A beacon of hope
I’ve seen God kiss the grass
With his luster
And muster up a glow so magical
It permeates the dewey summer air
I’ve seen him flicker
Fade in and out
Like stars
Even though he’s always there
Close enough
To be permanent
And not shatter
into a swirling
Supernova
I’ve seen God charm the trees
Swaying in the midsummer breeze
Like snakes under a magical Spell
The wind nimbly cascading
Through their feeble limbs
And their trunks overcome with the
Warmth of His embrace
As it swarms around their branches
Consuming them
With love
This is the God I know
So well
I’ve seen God tread the grass
And leave a path of moonlight
In his wake
Breathing life into
The Wistful dandelions
who dangle from their stems
Like the moon in the throes of Night
I’ve watched him wish upon them
As the wind casts away their pollen
And infinite whims are birthed
By its hand.
I’ve seen God twirl
And pirouette
Plie and jette
Rise and fall from endless
GraceI've fell in love with his brilliant gleam
Pulsating in the darkness
Held him in my palms
So I would know what a spark is
I’ve seen him leap
Seen him fly
Seen him born
Seen him die
Seen him dance
Like a speck of light
From the heavens
Twinkling in the night
Waning in and out of luminescence
And after all of this
I still can’t believe
I used to think that fireflies were a myth.
